Week of May 26th

Get ready for the Second Grade Field Trip
June 3rd at 10:00 am!

Second grade will be making a field trip to our local fire station to learn about fire safety and check out the equipment which keeps our city safe. We will be walking to the station.  Ms. Martinez, Mr. Rockey, and I will be chaperones. I can only take three adults so won't be asking for any parents to attend.  Permission slips go home this week.  Cost of the trip is free!

Please pack a lunch for your child on Monday, June 3rd as there will be no more school lunches after this Friday.

Congratulations Second Grade
on a beautiful First Communion!

Week of May 5th

First Communion is this Saturday, May 11th.  As discussed at our meeting last month children will need to have a banner.  I have posted photographs of banners on my blog if you need some inspiration. The banners need to be to me by this Friday.

Mass will be at 11:00 am on Saturday.  The church will open at 10:30.  The seating is not assigned.  I recommend that you arrive at 10:30 if you are bringing a large  group as this is also a Family Mass.  My classroom will open at 10:30 as well.  Please drop the communicant off with me in the classroom and proceed to the church.

Children may bring candles, rosaries, prayer books, and gloves but these need to be left with parents during the Mass.  Children must not wear gloves or carry anything when receiving Communion.  The children will be receiving Communion first. They will be seated with me and will go up as a group.  Please stay seated during their Communion so that the children may be seen. Mr. Caballero will be taking a photo of your child at the time they receive the host.

I will be sending home an order form for Communion photos on Monday.  Please bring your form and money on Saturday and give it directly to the photographer. A group photo of the class will be taken on the altar before the Mass.  Individual photos of the children will be taken in the cafeteria after Mass.  Father Garcia asks that you do not take flash photos during the Mass or move around the church taking pictures during the service.

Please contact me with any questions.I am very much looking forward to our special day together.

Blessings,  Ms. Rockey

Week of April 21st

I have had many students ask me about First Communion banner supplies.  I highly recommend shopping at Beverly's in Westlake Shopping Center.  And stopping off at Westlake Joe's for terrific burger and fries afterwards!

Second Grade has been working hard to improve spelling test scores!  Thank you Mr. Rockey for being ever ready with cookies when we do a great job.  We have also enjoyed trips to the park and extra recess in the little yard as a reward for our hard work!

Tomorrow is Earth Day. Students in Second Grade may wear free dress in blue colors to represent water.  We have many fun and educational activities planned including a neighborhood clean-up!

Please continue to keep our much loved Mrs. Caballero in your thoughts and prayers.
